COCISD summer learning programs for selected students

COCISD will provide a summer enrichment camp for selected students in grades 3-5, and a summer learning program for selected students in grades 7-12, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with free breakfast and lunch. Coldspring AFJROTC Aerospace Showcase spotlights cadets' projects

The inaugural Coldspring AFJROTC Aerospace Showcase celebrated the hard work of cadets this year, whose models and research projects were on display for judges Wednesday, May 1st. Among the winners were Cadet Airman Basic Jaccen Lee, pictured upper right, for Best Model Airplane, and Cadet Major James Burichin for 1st Place Overall Winner/Best Presentation.

Coldspring-Oakhurst High School Bass Teams head to State

Our Coldspring-Oakhurst High School Bass Team is celebrating a great year, with four teams advancing to the Texas High School Bass Association State Tournament, set for May 11th-12th on Cedar Creek Lake. One of several highlight's of the Bass Team's year was when Tyler Husband caught the Big Bass at the tournament on Lake Conroe.

Coldspring FFA Members are headed to state competition

Coldspring FFA has had a great year, with several teams advancing to state competitions. The Horse Judging Team placed 4th in Area to advance to State in Lubbock, The Forestry Team placed 2nd in District and will compete at State in Nacogdoches on May 1st, and the Livestock Judging Team placed 9th in Area and will compete at Texas A&M on May 4th.

COCISD instructional teams, including assistant principals, instructional content specialists and our instructional technology specialist, recently met with Dr. Lisa Severns and Gwen Bryant with Marzano Learning and Performance Management. This session utilized Marzano strategies, an evidence-based system that has been proven to improve the effectiveness of classroom instruction.

Coldspring-Oakhurst High School business students earn Excel Certification

Nine Coldspring-Oakhurst High School students in Susan Caldwell's business class earned their Microsoft Office Excel 2016 Certifications last week. Microsoft Excel is an industry-recognized certification used by millions globally. It has become the professional standard in offices across the globe for any applications that require management of large amounts of data. "Students who earn the certificate have a marketable skill to add to their resume and to utilize the skill in almost any career they choose to enter," said Caldwell.

COCISD Band Program's legacy of success continues to grow

COCISD Band students competed at the 2019 UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest at Caney Creek High School last week with great success. For the 2nd year in a row, the Coldspring-Oakhurst High School Band and the Lincoln Junior High Symphonic Band received a Superior 1st rating. The LJH Concert Band earned a rating of Excellent in Sight Reading. At the end of this competition season, the COCISD Band Program has earned more 1st Division ratings in the past four years than the total number of 1st Division ratings in school history!

COHS Criminal Justice students have already been ACCEPTED for their next step

This school year, the seniors of Lt. Lydia Richard’s Criminal Justice classes and her RTI-College Readiness class were challenged to meet the requirements and apply to a college or university of their choice. So far, 22 of the 27 seniors have been accepted, and 5 hopefuls are awaiting response. On April 12th, students were given purple shirts with the word “ACCEPTED” to mark the beginning of a rewarding journey from Coldspring-Oakhurst High School to their respective colleges and universities across the nation.

COHS track athletes head to UIL 23-3A Regionals after Onalaska meet

The Trojans took 2nd place at the UIL 23-3A Area Meet at Onalaska High School on Monday, April 15th. Darvin Lynn placed 1st in the High Jump, and Curtis Parker, Jr. placed 1st in the 100 and 400 meter Dash. Parker now has the fastest time in the 400m and the #2 time on the 100m in the Texas 3A Division. For a full list of the COHS top four results, click "Show More" below.
